Foreshadowing
When Liam was finally adopted, he was both elated, and mildly disappointed. The person taking him home wasn't a long lost family member, nor were they actually someone famous or magical. All in all, the Marlens were rather unremarkable, but loving. And at the end of the day, that was all Liam wanted.
